HYCM Review 2026: Costs, Safety, Platforms and Who It Suits

The 60-Second Decision

HYCM is most relevant to beginner and intermediate forex and CFD traders who want to choose between fixed, spread-only pricing and a raw-spread account with commission. Its Fixed, Classic and Raw accounts each have a stated $20 minimum deposit, while the broker’s forex spread choices start at 1.5 pips, 1.2 pips and 0.1 pips respectively.

The main trade-off is that the cheapest headline spread comes with commission, while the legal entity serving you affects protections and available leverage. Check your account’s exact pricing and entity before funding it.

Regulation structureMulti-entity, including UK FCA and DIFC DFSA-regulated entities.
Trading complexityMedium: traders need to compare spread and commission models, and leveraged CFDs carry additional costs and risks.

What materially distinguishes it?

Three spread structures
Fixed, Classic and Raw accounts let traders choose between a constant spread, a commission-free floating spread and a tighter raw spread with commission. Comparing the total cost is more useful than choosing by the minimum spread alone.
Entity-specific protections and leverage
HYCM operates through regulated entities including the FCA-regulated UK company and the DFSA-regulated DIFC company. The entity serving a client can change applicable protections, leverage and account conditions.

What We Tested — and What We Didn't

Tested directly

  • Withdrawal: The withdrawal eventually cleared, but processing and customer support were slower than expected.
  • Order placement: The spreads on our trades were wider than we expected.
  • Email support: We asked about the spread issue and felt that nobody responded.

Verified from primary sources

The FCA register identifies HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited under licence 186171. The DFSA register identifies HYCM Capital Markets (DIFC) Ltd under licence F000048.

Not independently verified

We did not independently measure typical execution speed, rejection rates or the frequency of positive and negative slippage. A single order-placement experience does not establish typical spreads or execution outcomes.

Account Pricing

AccountMinimum SpreadCommissionMinimum Deposit
FixedFixed from 1.5 pipsNo commission$20
ClassicVariable from 1.2 pipsNo commission$20
RawFrom 0.1 pip$4 per round-turn lot for forex$20

The Fixed account keeps its spread constant and does not permit Expert Advisors. Classic spreads float with market conditions and have no commission. Raw combines tighter spreads with commission; the quoted $4 round-turn rate applies to forex, and metals have a separate commission structure. Although the listed minimum deposit is $20 for each account, the initial setup requirement can reach $100 for Fixed or Classic and $200 for Raw depending on location and account tier.

HYCM’s average EUR/USD spread is 1.28 pips and its average GBP/USD spread is 1.6 pips. These averages give a different cost reference from the account minimums, which are starting spreads rather than a promise that the minimum will be available at all times. Other quoted averages are 0.36 points for gold and 0.8 points for the S&P 500 CFD.

What the Headline Number Doesn't Tell You

Raw spread: The starting spread of 0.1 pip is paired with commission, so compare the combined cost rather than the spread alone. Fixed and Classic are commission-free but have wider starting spreads.

Average spreads: EUR/USD and GBP/USD averages add context; floating spreads can change with market conditions.

The exact rate usually depends on entity, product and conversion route.Applies when a deposit, withdrawal, instrument, P/L or settlement currency differs from the account base currency; rate varies by entity, product and conversion route.

Leveraged positions held past the daily rollover can incur or receive overnight financing. The amount depends on the instrument, position size and direction, rates and holding period. Islamic accounts are swap-free for the first 14 days; after that, a $5 administrative storage fee per full contract per night applies.

Cost most worth watching

For an occasional trader, the $10 monthly inactivity charge after 90 days can accumulate while an account sits unused. For active traders, compare the Raw commission and spread together, and include overnight financing if positions are likely to remain open past rollover.

Legal Entity Map

RegulatorLicense NumberJurisdictionMain Protections
DFSAF000048Dubai International Financial Centre / eligible regional clientsDIFC/DFSA framework applies. Permitted client categories and services depend on the entity's DFSA permissions; protections differ from UK/EU/Australian retail regimes.
FCA186171United KingdomUK FCA framework applies to this entity. Retail-client leverage/product rules, client-money safeguards and complaint/compensation routes can differ from offshore entities; eligibility rules apply.

Why the entity matters

Clients in the United Kingdom may contract with HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited, while eligible regional clients may be served by HYCM Capital Markets (DIFC) Ltd. The applicable regulator, client category and entity permissions affect protections and product conditions. Confirm the contracting entity shown during account opening rather than assuming that protections attached to one entity apply to every account.

HYCM says it segregates retail client funds from its operational capital. The broker also describes negative balance protection for retail accounts, though the protections and compensation routes depend on the entity and eligibility. HYCM identifies FSCS cover of up to £85,000 for eligible clients of its UK entity. These safeguards do not remove the risk of losses from trading.

Where the range is strongest

The range is strongest in equities, with 1,000 stock CFDs and 70 forex pairs. Stock CFDs provide price exposure without ownership; indices and commodities are also traded through leveraged derivatives.

Where it is limited

HYCM does not offer ETFs, options or bonds as separate product classes. Crypto positions track price movements rather than involving physical ownership of coins. HYCM’s headline forex leverage can be up to 1:500, but the maximum retail leverage schedule gives lower figures, including 1:30 for forex. The applicable leverage depends on the instrument and legal entity or jurisdiction.

Execution and Trading Conditions

3.9/5

HYCM classifies its business model as market maker. Leverage depends on the instrument and legal entity: the broker’s headline forex maximum is up to 1:500, while the retail schedule lists 1:30 for forex, 1:20 for indices and commodities, 1:5 for stocks and 1:2 for crypto. The actual limit depends on the account’s jurisdiction and applicable entity.

HYCM lists a 100% margin-call level and a 50% stop-out level. The broker says its risk-management system can close open positions when the margin level reaches 50%. Slippage can be positive or negative, and rapid market moves may also lead to slippage or requotes.

HYCM generally allows legitimate scalping but prohibits abusive scalping and latency arbitrage. Hedging is permitted within the same account; hedging across multiple accounts is generally prohibited. Automated trading through Expert Advisors is available on Variable Spread and Raw accounts, but is disabled on the Fixed account. During major news releases, variable spreads may widen as liquidity changes.

09

Before You Open an Account

Check these three things first

  1. Your legal entity: Confirm which HYCM entity will hold your account and which regulator’s rules and protections apply.
  2. Your likely trading cost: Compare the spread and commission together, then factor in overnight financing, currency conversion and the inactivity fee if you may leave the account dormant.
  3. Your product/account requirements: Check that the CFD markets and account type suit your needs, including whether your strategy requires automation on a Fixed, Classic or Raw account.

Bottom line

HYCM offers fixed, commission-free floating and raw-spread pricing for forex and CFD traders. Before opening an account, compare the total cost of your chosen account and identify the entity serving you.
