Admirals Review 2026: Costs, Safety, Platforms and Who It Suits

The 60-Second Decision

Admirals is worth considering if you want a choice between spread-based CFD trading, a raw-spread account with commission, and an account for investing in real shares and ETFs. MT4 and MT5 support automated strategies, while the Invest account has a €1-equivalent minimum deposit.

The main trade-off is that costs and protections depend on account type and the legal entity serving you. Before opening an account, check which entity you will contract with and compare the spread-plus-commission cost against your expected trading volume.

Broker Profile

DimensionProfile
Main business modelSTP broker type; offers CFD trading and investing accounts.
Product focusForex, indices, commodities, stock and ETF products, bonds and cryptocurrencies.
Pricing modelHybrid: Trade uses spread-based pricing; Zero combines spreads from 0.0 pips with commissions; Invest uses market spreads or exchange prices.
Automation supportMT4 and MT5 Expert Advisors and scripts; VPS hosting is available subject to the stated account-equity requirement.
Typical customerIntermediate and advanced forex and CFD traders seeking MetaTrader tools, alongside investors interested in real shares and ETFs.
Regulation structureMulti-entity: FCA in the UK and CySEC in Cyprus/EEA are identified, with Seychelles also named in the broker's regulatory footprint.
Trading complexityMedium to high: account pricing, leverage and protections depend on account type, product and jurisdiction.

What materially distinguishes it?

Three account types, different entry points
Invest has a €1-equivalent minimum, while Trade and Zero require €100 equivalent. The distinction lets clients choose between investing in real shares and ETFs or accessing CFD pricing models with different spread and commission structures.
Hybrid spread and commission pricing
Trade uses wider spread-based pricing, while Zero can start at 0.0 pips and adds per-lot commission on forex and metals. Comparing the full cost for a particular instrument and trade size matters more than comparing spread minimums alone.
MetaTrader automation alongside a separate investing account
MT4 and MT5 support desktop Expert Advisors, while Invest provides access to real stocks and ETFs. This pairs automated CFD trading tools with a separate route to non-leveraged investing, subject to account and product terms.

What We Tested — and What We Didn't

Tested directly

  • Deposits: In our live-account test, adding money by Visa was easy, and we could make repeated deposits without much friction.
  • Withdrawals: Funding was straightforward, but withdrawals felt more restrictive and difficult in our test. This was one experience, not a measure of every withdrawal or payment method.
  • Mobile app: We found the Admirals app easy to use during our trading.
  • Order placement: The platform and order execution worked well during normal use in our test.
  • Email support: We received quick, useful replies as a new client and later when we needed more detailed help.

Verified from primary sources

  • The FCA register lists Admiral Markets UK Ltd under licence 595450.
  • The CySEC register lists Admirals Europe Ltd under licence 201/13.

Not independently verified

Our account use does not establish typical execution speed or the frequency and size of positive or negative slippage. It also does not independently measure liquidity, rejection rates or performance during volatile markets. Treat those as separate from the specific order-placement experience described above.

What Does It Actually Cost?

Account Pricing

AccountMinimum SpreadCommissionMinimum Deposit
InvestMarket spread / exchange priceVaries by instrument; real stocks and ETFs carry product-specific commissions.€1 equivalent
TradeFrom about 0.5 pipsSpread-based pricing; one commission-free stock/ETF trade per day.€100 equivalent
ZeroFrom 0.0 pipsForex and metals typically $1.8–$3.0 per lot, per side.€100 equivalent

Spreads are floating. The minimum spread is not the same as a typical spread: quoted average spreads include 0.6 pips for EUR/USD and 1.0 pips for GBP/USD. The Zero account's 0.0-pip starting spread does not mean zero trading cost because commission is charged separately. Trade accounts generally embed their trading cost in the spread. For real US stocks, commission starts from $0.02 per share; other markets and products have their own rates.

Pricing and leverage may also depend on the legal entity and jurisdiction. The account figures above give the stated minimums; they do not guarantee that a minimum spread will be available throughout a trading session.

What the Headline Number Doesn't Tell You

Advertised spread: From 0.0 pips on Zero.

What that doesn't tell you:
The figure is a minimum, and the account adds a per-lot commission on forex and metals. Compare the total spread and commission for your instrument and trade size rather than comparing spread figures alone.

Non-Trading Costs

FeeAmountConditions
Deposit--
WithdrawalA withdrawal fee can apply. The amount may depend on the withdrawal method, currency, amount, region or transaction frequency.Applies when the chosen withdrawal method, currency, amount, region or transaction frequency is fee-bearing.
InactivityAdmirals charges €10 per month when no trades have been made for 24 months, provided the account has a positive balance.Applies after 24 months without trades and only while the account has a positive balance.
Currency conversionA currency-conversion cost or markup can apply when the deposit, withdrawal, instrument, profit/loss, or settlement currency differs from the account base currency. The exact rate usually depends on entity, product and conversion route.Applies when a deposit, withdrawal, instrument, P/L or settlement currency differs from the account base currency; rate varies by entity, product and conversion route.

Overnight financing can also apply to leveraged positions held past the daily rollover. The amount depends on the instrument, position and holding period. Eligible swap-free accounts replace swaps with administration fees for positions held longer than three days.

Cost most worth watching

For frequent forex or metals trading, calculate the Zero commission on both sides of each trade as well as the spread. For less frequent traders, check overnight financing and the withdrawal fee schedule applicable to the payment method and entity.

Legal Entity Map

RegulatorLicense NumberJurisdictionMain Protections
CySEC201/13EEA / CyprusCyprus/EEA MiFID framework applies. Retail leverage/product rules and investor-protection/complaint arrangements differ from offshore entities; compensation eligibility depends on the entity and client.
FCA595450United KingdomUK FCA framework applies to this entity. Retail-client leverage/product rules, client-money safeguards and complaint/compensation routes can differ from offshore entities; eligibility rules apply.

Admirals also identifies the Seychelles FSA as a regulator and lists licence SD073. The contracting entity determines the applicable regulator and protections; the UK and Cyprus register entries name Admiral Markets UK Ltd and Admirals Europe Ltd, respectively.

Why the entity matters

Retail leverage limits differ from the higher limits described for international accounts. UK and EU retail accounts are generally capped at 1:30 on major forex pairs, 1:20 on indices and 1:5 on stock CFDs. The broker's stated international maximum is up to 1:1000 on forex and up to 1:500 on indices, but the available leverage depends on jurisdiction, client classification and instrument.

Investor compensation eligibility also depends on the entity and client. The Investor Compensation Fund is stated as covering up to €20,000 per eligible client. Do not assume that a compensation scheme, leverage limit or complaint route applies identically to every Admirals account.

Client Protection

Admirals says it keeps client funds segregated from its corporate assets. It also offers negative balance protection: retail clients receive full protection on a per-account basis, while the stated professional-client compensation is capped at €50,000 per client. These safeguards do not remove market, counterparty or trading risk, and protection terms depend on client classification and legal entity.

Where the range is strongest

Equities are the largest stated category by count. Admirals distinguishes between real stocks and ETFs in the Invest account and leveraged stock or ETF CFDs, which do not give ownership of the underlying asset.

Where it is limited

The listed range includes two bonds, and standard retail options are not offered. Product access and counts can vary by region and account; CFD leverage also means exposure is not the same as owning an underlying asset.

Core Experience

MT4 and MT5 support desktop-based Expert Advisors and scripts. The web terminals are suited to browser access and manual trading; full MetaTrader automation and custom-code workflows rely on desktop or VPS environments. MetaTrader Supreme Edition and StereoTrader are desktop add-ons rather than standalone platforms.

Charting

The Admirals Platform includes TradingView charts. MT5 supports depth of market, and MetaTrader desktop supports custom indicators and automated strategies.

Order Types

MetaTrader includes advanced pending orders; StereoTrader adds one-click execution and order-management tools.

Advanced Features

MT4 and MT5 support Expert Advisors and scripts. Admirals offers copy trading through its dashboard and MetaTrader Signals integrations. VPS hosting is available for MT4/MT5, with the stated free-service condition requiring at least €5,000 in live-account equity. Admirals supports algorithmic trading through MetaTrader rather than a standalone public REST or FIX trading API.

Mobile Experience

The Admirals mobile app is available for iOS and Android and supports manual trading, account management, watchlists, alerts and biometric login. MT4 and MT5 also have mobile applications for trading and monitoring.

Main Platform Trade-Off

Best aspect: MetaTrader desktop automation is paired with web and mobile access, and clients can choose broker add-ons for desktop workflows.

Main friction point: Full Expert Advisor development and testing require a desktop or VPS; browser and mobile terminals are not substitutes for the complete automation environment.

Execution and Trading Conditions

4.2/5

Admirals allows scalping and hedging. MT4 and MT5 support automated trading through Expert Advisors, and the broker provides VPS hosting subject to its stated eligibility terms. News trading is permitted, but the broker warns that volatility can bring slippage, wider spreads and temporary liquidity gaps.

Margin call is listed at 100% and stop-out at 50%. Leverage varies by jurisdiction, instrument and client classification. The broker also describes pre-close margin terms for Friday sessions and says leverage on highly leveraged instruments near the Friday close may be restricted to 1:50.

Slippage can be positive or negative. No independent execution-speed statistics or rejection-rate measurements are stated here, so an STP broker classification should not be treated as proof of a particular execution outcome. Admirals permits traders to lower their maximum leverage through account settings.

Before You Open an Account

Check these three things first

  1. Your legal entity: Confirm the contracting company, regulator and protections that apply to your country and client classification.
  2. Your likely trading cost: Compare the spread and any commission for your account, instrument and trade size; include currency conversion, overnight financing and withdrawal charges where relevant.
  3. Your product/account requirements: Confirm whether you need leveraged CFDs or the Invest account for real shares and ETFs, and check the applicable minimum deposit and product access.

Bottom line

Admirals is primarily suited to traders seeking MetaTrader tools and a choice of spread-based or commission pricing, with a separate low-minimum account for investing in shares and ETFs. The main reason to pause is that costs, leverage and protections depend on the account and legal entity.
