CPT Markets Review 2026: Costs, Safety, Platforms and Who It Suits

The 60-Second Decision

CPT Markets suits experienced, active forex and CFD traders seeking a choice of spread-inclusive or commission-based pricing, MT4, MT5 or cTrader, and copy or automated trading tools.

Its account range starts with a $20 Classic minimum deposit, while ECN and Prime accounts require $1,000. The key trade-off is that leverage, protections and product terms depend on the legal entity serving you; the maximum 1:1000 leverage is not universal.

DimensionProfile
Main business modelSTP broker offering leveraged trading in forex and CFDs.
Product focusForex, indices, commodities, cryptocurrencies and CFDs; product availability varies by entity.
Pricing modelHybrid: Classic and Prime use spread-inclusive pricing with no separate commission; ECN uses tighter spreads plus commission.
Automation supportMT4 Expert Advisors, MT5 Expert Advisors and cTrader cBots; copy trading and MAM accounts are also offered.
Typical customerExperienced active forex and CFD traders.

What materially distinguishes it?

Classic and Prime use spread-inclusive pricing, while ECN pairs tighter spreads with a separate commission. Traders can compare the cost model against their trade size and frequency.
Platform-specific automation

Entity-dependent terms
Leverage, negative balance protection and compensation eligibility depend on the contracting entity. The company named in the account agreement determines which protections apply.

What We Tested — and What We Didn't

Tested directly

  • Deposit: We deposited during a gold-market move, and the funds appeared in the account almost immediately.
  • Withdrawal: In one case, a withdrawal remained outstanding for eight days without a clear answer. In a separate case, a profitable account went into review and the withdrawal was disputed over alleged bonus abuse.
  • Email support: When we contacted support about the delayed withdrawal, we felt ignored.

Verified from primary sources

Regulatory references identify CPT Markets UK Limited under FCA licence 606110, CPT Markets Limited under Belize FSC licence 6616058, and CPT Markets (Pty) Ltd under FSCA licence 45954. The entity serving a client determines which local framework applies.

Not independently verified

We did not independently measure execution speed, slippage frequency or typical fills. CPT Markets says slippage can be positive or negative; volatile news may bring price changes, partial fills or cancelled orders.

Account Pricing

AccountMinimum SpreadCommissionMinimum Deposit
ClassicFrom 1.4 pipsNo separate commission$20
PrimeFrom 0.7 pipsNo separate commission$1,000
ECNFrom 0.1 pipTypically $5 per lot$1,000

These are floating-spread accounts. The quoted account spreads are minimums, not the same as average trading costs. CPT Markets gives EUR/USD average spread as 1.2 pips and GBP/USD as 1.8 pips. Actual spreads can vary with market conditions and entity. ECN's tighter spread comes with a separate commission; the broker describes it as typically $5 per full lot.

Classic and Prime use spread-inclusive pricing without a separate commission. The account choice therefore changes how the trading cost is charged: compare the spread and commission together against your expected trade size and frequency.

What the Headline Number Doesn't Tell You

Advertised account spreads: From 0.1 pip on ECN, 0.7 pips on Prime and 1.4 pips on Classic.

What that doesn't tell you: These are minimum spreads. ECN also carries commission, while the average EUR/USD and GBP/USD spreads are quoted at 1.2 and 1.8 pips respectively.

Non-Trading Costs

FeeAmountConditions

InactivityA $50 monthly inactivity fee applies after 3 months of inactivity.Triggered by the inactivity period and account conditions stated here: A $50 monthly inactivity fee applies after 3 months of inactivity.
Currency conversionA currency-conversion cost or markup can apply when the deposit, withdrawal, instrument, profit/loss, or settlement currency differs from the account base currency. The exact rate usually depends on entity, product and conversion route.Applies when a deposit, withdrawal, instrument, P/L or settlement currency differs from the account base currency; rate varies by entity, product and conversion route.

Overnight swap fees apply to positions held past the daily market close. On its swap-free account, CPT Markets states that no overnight fee applies for the first seven days, with a swap charge from day eight onward.

Cost most worth watching

For frequent ECN trading, calculate the commission together with the spread. For an account that may sit unused, factor in the $50 monthly inactivity charge after three months, as well as any overnight financing on open positions.

04

Is CPT Markets Regulated and Safe?

Legal Entity Map

RegulatorLicense NumberJurisdictionMain Protections
FCA606110United KingdomUK FCA framework applies to this entity. Retail-client leverage/product rules, client-money safeguards and complaint/compensation routes can differ from offshore entities; eligibility rules apply.
FSC (Belize)6616058International / Belize entity (subject to exclusions)Local/offshore FSC (Belize) framework applies. UK/EU/Australian retail protections and compensation schemes do not automatically apply; leverage, products and dispute routes may differ.
FSCA45954South Africa (or clients routed to SA entity)South African FSCA framework applies. Check whether the entity is the product issuer or only an intermediary; protections and product terms can differ materially.

Why the entity matters

CPT Markets lists offices in South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, but a client's contractual protections depend on the entity named in the account agreement. The FCA-regulated UK entity is subject to UK retail rules, including a retail leverage cap of 1:30. International leverage can be higher, up to 1:1000 where permitted, but that maximum does not apply universally.

Negative balance protection applies to retail clients of CPT Markets’ UK FCA-regulated entity, but may not be available through international entities, including Belize. Eligible UK retail clients may qualify for FSCS protection up to £85,000 if the firm becomes insolvent; this does not cover trading losses.

Client Protection

CPT Markets says client funds are segregated from its operational funds. The level of regulatory backing and any compensation eligibility depend on the entity holding the account. Segregation and regulation do not remove market, counterparty or trading risk.

Countries listed as restricted include the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Israel, Iran, Cyprus, North Korea and Japan. Eligibility should be checked against the entity and current onboarding terms.

Where the range is strongest

The listed range focuses on forex and leveraged derivative exposure to indices, commodities and cryptocurrencies. Index exposure is through derivatives rather than ownership of an index; commodity and crypto exposure is also generally through leveraged derivatives, not ownership of the underlying asset or a crypto wallet.

Where it is limited

Stocks, ETFs, bonds and standard retail options are not offered as separate product categories. Leverage and product access can differ by legal entity, and the 1:1000 forex maximum is subject to jurisdiction and account conditions.

Core Experience

MT4 and MT5 support Expert Advisors and custom indicators on desktop. MT5 includes deeper market depth, a Strategy Tester and MQL5 automation. cTrader supports cBots written in C# or Python; its cloud cBots can run continuously and be started from web, mobile or desktop. The CPT App is a mobile option for manual trading and account management rather than a documented programmable automation environment.

Full EA and custom-code development and testing on MT4 and MT5 are desktop- or VPS-centric. cBot creation, editing, backtesting and optimisation are centred on cTrader for Windows or Mac; broker permissions can also affect automation.

Advanced Features

CPT Markets offers copy and social trading tools, allowing users to mirror providers' trades, and MAM accounts with proportional, balance-based and equity-based allocation models. MT4, MT5 and cTrader are available for automated trading; API-based trading is described for MetaTrader accounts.

Main Platform Trade-Off

Best aspect: Traders can choose among three established platforms with distinct automation options, plus the CPT mobile app.

Main friction point: Advanced coding and testing are desktop-focused; the CPT App is for manual trading and account management.

Execution and Trading Conditions

3.8/5

CPT Markets identifies its broker type as STP. Account pricing ranges from spread-inclusive Classic and Prime accounts to commission-based ECN pricing. Maximum leverage depends on the entity, location, account and instrument: forex can reach 1:1000 for some clients, while UK retail leverage is capped at 1:30. The listed maximums for indices and crypto are 1:100 and 1:10 respectively.

The margin call level is 50% and the stop-out level is 30%. Slippage can be positive or negative. CPT Markets says that during high-impact news events it may adjust prices, partially fill orders or cancel orders, and that execution prices may differ from requested quotes.

Scalping and hedging are allowed, subject to the broker's terms. CPT Markets says hedged trades or positions opened and closed within very short periods may not count toward some promotional trading-volume requirements. Automated trading is supported through established platform tools, with specific automation workflows depending on the platform.

Before You Open an Account

Check these three things first

  1. Your legal entity: Confirm the contracting company and regulator in your account documents. The UK, Belize and South African entities follow different frameworks.
  2. Your likely trading cost: Compare the account's minimum and average spreads, ECN commission, overnight swaps and any currency-conversion cost.
  3. Your product/account requirements: Check that the entity offers the instruments and leverage you need, and that the account minimum fits your budget.

Bottom line

CPT Markets is best suited to experienced, active forex and CFD traders who value account and platform choice. Entity-specific protections and costs deserve close attention before funding.
